Khalkh Gol River Statues

LOCATION: 360 km from Choibalsan town of Dornod province and 1040 km from UB in far eastern Mongolia.

There are several marks and war memorials erected in honor of Mongolian and Russian soldiers who died in the battle against Japan in 1939. It is known as the Khalkhiin Gol monuments, named after the Khalkh River runs through the site.

Yalaltiin Khushuu or Victory Monument

The tallest, as well as the largest among the other monuments, the Victory Monument was built on the Khamar mountain pass, just out of the Khalkh Gol town where a bitter fight happened in 1939. This 54 m tall, 33 m wide copper statue was built in 1984 for the 45th anniversary of the Khalkh Gol River battle victory.

Tank Monument

A tank monument stands on a pedestal erected commemorating a tank brigade commander M.P. Yakolev and his troops for their winning occurred in the Bayantsagaan range battle of Khalkh Gol in 1939.
