When is the best time to travel to Khuvsgul Lake?

The most suitable time to travel to the lake is between 10 June and 10 September. The reason is the lake's frozen surface remains till 10 June, and the weather sharply cools after 10 September. The weather is warm and enjoyable between 10 June and 15 August. The weather is crisp mornings and evenings between 15 August and 10 September and warm during the daylight. Snowfall may occur in early June, late August, and September. Average day temperatures are +20°C, highest +25°C at the end of June, at the end of August, and in September.
July and the first half of August are the warmest as well as wettest months. July and August average daylight temperature is +25°C, hottest +32°C, and night temperature could drop to +10°C. The temperature dramatically falls if it rains.
Therefore, we suggest you bring clothes suitable for warm, cool and wet weather in July and August. Bringing your warm, windproof jackets, layers of trousers, a nice warm woolen hat, and gloves are recommendable when traveling in June and September besides your light clothes.

"My friend and I started planning our trip to Mongolia last year and right from the first email enquiry Boggie was prompt with her replies. Boggie was able to work with us to plan a trip to suit our time frame, flights and activities that we wanted to do. We couldn't have been happier with the outcome. We combined two tours - 'Explore Mongolia Private Tour extended with Yak Cart Supported Trekking' - 21 days. By including two domestic flights we were able to cover a lot of the country. Boggie organised sightseeing tours in Ulaanbaatar and a tour to see the wild horses in Hustai National Park. We flew to the Gobi where we were met by our guide Sony and driver Denzka. We spent two weeks with Sony and Denzka and they were fantastic. Most of the roads were 4 wheel drive tracks so it was important to have a confident and capable driver. Sony's English was excellent and we felt well supported at all times throughout the tour.
