Ger camps, featuring the traditional roundhouses of nomadic life, are the main accommodation in the countryside during the tours. The ger camps are located close to the main attractions or in scenic areas in the appropriate day’s driving distance from one another. A tourist ger camp has approximately 15-40 gers, a large ger restaurant or a house restaurant serves European and Mongolian meals. Some ger camps have game rooms and open playgrounds. Flush toilets and showers are located in separate blocks from the ger accommodations. There are several ger camps featuring attached private bathroom gers and those gers are considered ensuite.
The hotels we accommodate our clients range from regular, clean, and comfortable traveler-type hotels to 3*, 4*, and 5* hotels located in the downtown of Ulaanbaatar. Among the numerous hotels in Ulaanbaatar, we choose a few due to their service quality, comfort, location, value, friendliness of staff, and facilities.
Staying with nomad families is the best way to discover the knowledge of the centuries-old nomadic lifestyle culture. The nomads are totally self-sufficient with their five kinds of animals (horses, sheep, cattle including yaks, goats, and camels) and move with their mobile and collapsible dwellings “gers”, in search of better pastures and water for their animals from place to place all year round. The types of domesticated animals kept by nomadic families differ depending on where they live, local weather conditions, vegetation on the pasture, and other factors. We organize authentic nomad family stays to let our clients understand and experience as much as possible about the locals during their tour in the country of steppes.
The majority of our tours include three meals a day. Depending on the international transportation schedule or your request, breakfast on the first day and dinner on the last day could be excluded.
In Ulaanbaatar, we choose from the finest European and Mongolian restaurants. In the countryside, ger camps serve some European and Mongolian meals. Meat is the main recipe for lunch and dinner. In general traditional Mongolian meals contain more meat.
A typical Tourist ger camp meal consists of tea, coffee, bread, jam, butter, eggs, and sausage for breakfast. Some ger camps serve cookies, cheese, cereals, and pancakes for breakfast on top of the above. They treat the clients with salads, Mongolian soups, main courses (pasta, rice, vegetables, beef/mutton/chicken/fish near lakes/rivers), dessert, and tea for lunch. Salad, main course, dessert, and tea will be served for dinner. The tourist ger camps tend to serve western meals, except they randomly cook Mongolian meals. You can try the best traditional Mongolian meals with nomads.
If you are a vegetarian or have dietary restrictions, please inform us beforehand. We will arrange the meals accordingly.
We provide bottled water daily.
The majority of our company's guides are English speaking. Also, we have guides who speak German, French, Spanish, Russian, and Japanese. They are all friendly, helpful, and most of them were born and raised in the Mongolian countryside. Therefore, they have good knowledge about every aspect of Mongolia. During some active and adventure tours such as horse riding, camel riding, biking, or skiing, specially trained guides will serve you. Horse and camel riding guides are the nomadic equestrians ready to help and guide you.
Our company's drivers know how to get to every corner of Mongolia even as there are no road marks. They are helpful, flexible, and are experienced mechanics handy with cars. Except for the safe driving, they are one of the team members who add memories and jokes at the points. Our clients sometimes wonder about their drivers' abilities to find ways on rough roads of vast Mongolian territory without any indication or road signs. The clients make jokes about the drivers that they have GPS in their heads
We use four-wheels-drive Japanese/Korean vans and Japanese jeeps - the most reliable vehicles on bumpy Mongolian roads. Some tours include domestic flights. Yak and horse carts, horses, and camels are means of transport when arranging adventure tours in remote areas where the vehicles have no access. We can serve with different vehicle types upon request.
The trekking, biking, horse riding, and camel riding tours include ger camp stays and camping. During the camping trips, our cooks serve western and authentic Mongolian cuisines three times a day. Sometimes they pack lunch as a picnic depending on the weather condition and the length of the day driving.
We supply all camping equipment such as tents, kitchen tents, cooking equipment, chairs, tables, etc. We will provide sleeping bags upon request.
