Eagle Hunting Festival Day Tour 1 days
At the beginning of March, around 30 eagle hunters come near Ulaanbaatar from western Mongolia to show us their eagle-related heritage, including how they train eagles for hunting. You will see traditional music and dance performance, traditional Kazakh games, and equestrian competitions, except for the eagle-related games and activities.
Itinerary
March 9, Day 1: Attend Golden Eagle Festival
Your guide and driver meet you at your accommodation at 9 am. Drive south of Ulaanbaatar to Bogd Khan Mountain to take part marvellous Eagle Hunting Festival. The Eagle Hunting Festival starts with a parade of eagle hunters riding horses and holding their eagles in their arms. The festival continues with many impressive demonstrations of the Eagles and eagle hunters, including eagles' ability to grab baits, recognition of the hunters' call, traditional Kazakh game Bushkashi, horse archery, traditional music, and dance play. Today, you will visit a big traditional dwelling ger to have lunch. We will return to the city between 6 pm and 7 pm and drop you off at your accommodation.

Background
Is this Eagle Hunting Festival tour suitable for you?
It is a regular day trip to participate in the Eagle Hunting Festival held south of the Bogd Khan Mountain at a 40 km distance from the city downtown. Early March daylight temperature fluctuates between -10°C and +2°C. You will stay outside most of the time though you will have indoor lunch. Therefore, we suggest you wear warm clothes, including your hat, scarf, and gloves. To keep warm, you can go to the ger restaurant and may get payable drinks. The tour does not include any physical or challenging activities and is suitable for people of all ages.
