Is this tour suitable for me?

This is a regular tour includes overnight stays in ger camps in the countryside and hotels in Ulaanbaatar. The tour has not included any demanding physical activities. Traveling in Mongolia always requires long driving through changing landscapes and steppes with scenic views. Even though, we tried to plan the trip to have as little driving as possible. Approximate day driving will be 3-7 hours (6-7 hours long driving day will be only two days). The itinerary includes some light activities such as 1-3 hours soft hiking and an hour camel riding. The most challenging experience of the tour could be climbing high sand dunes in the Gobi, which is not mandatory and you can enjoy the sand dunes and yourself while climbing one of the foot sand hills.

Weather in July

July is the hottest month. The Gobi or southern Mongolia is the warmest region in Mongolia. The annual temperature is usually 2-10°C higher than other parts of Mongolia. Average day temperature is +30°C, hottest +40°C and night temperature could drop to +12°C although some nights could be sultriness. It is a month receives a relatively higher prescription than other months. The temperature could dramatically fall if it rains. The rain period starts after Naadam festival when observing annual average, but not constant. The rain could be a temporary shower or drizzling rain. For your pre-departure preparation, you may check packing list of the discovery tours.

I looked at lots of companies when planning the trip and settled on ViewMongolia.com because of the Trip advisor reviews, and the efficiency of Boggie. I like supporting local companies plus it seemed more economical than the big tour companies, but it never felt like a cheap trip – quite the contrary. I strongly commend the super efficiency of Ms Boggie answering my queries in the planning phase - about diet issues, standard of car, length of drives, special requirements for itinerary, visas, money presents for nomad children etc. It is a leap of faith to read reviews on Trip Advisor, pay your money, get off a plane UlaanBaatar (UB) and hope someone is there to meet us. Our driver Chuka was indeed there, with his welcoming sign and off we went - for our two week tour. After our arrival in UB, we spent a day or so looking around. Blue Sky hotel was an impressive building with modern, clean and spacious rooms, good breakfast, and right next to the big city square (especially useful if you are there for Naadam). We loved the Naadam festival, and the opening ceremony for all its colour and costumes and fun – I recommend to go then if you can. The traditional dancing show that ViewMongolia took us to see was the best local culture show I have ever seen (I have seen lots) – impressive throat singers, lovely local string instruments, well rehearsed, good costumes, altogether most enjoyable.
